Profile of Rajarshi Roy: Rajarshi Roy is founder and CEO of two niche media companies namely Raa’ Media, and Spero Media Concepts. While Raa specializes in creating quality TV content for various channels, Spero Media specializes in creating print products for a slew of corporate clients. Rajarshi also edits and publishes a high end travel and lifestyle magazine called the Globe Trekker. Rajarshi is also the India director for World Marketing Summit, a global social marketing initiative spearheaded by leading management guru Prof Philip Kotler. Rajarshi pioneered an initiative to create an inclusive media for India, and is working with various government departments and ministries to create a media which reflects the aspirations of the rural Indian. After spending over a decade in senior positions with Star News, Times of India, Business Standard, and Financial Express Rajarshi decided to venture out on his own and in 2005, he ended his career in mainstream journalism, with an aim of doing something more meaningful, became a developmental media entrepreneur, and formed Raa Media Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai. Rajarshi decided to plunge full time towards creating a developmental media platform, which would be more meaningful in the context of India's largely rural population. In these last few years, he has worked in the conflict zones of Kashmir and the Maoist corridors of Central India, and also with the larger rural community, to develop media content, in the areas of financial literacy, career guidance, and inclusive growth to name a few. In the last few years of its existence, Raa’ has several firsts to its credit, which include Paisa Vasool, India's longest running and first investment advisory programme for rural India, Yyuva India's first education and career advisory show for rural India, Swadesh- coming home to India, (RAPA award winner for best chat show concept), Prabhati- DD Bangla’s longest running morning breakfast show, Desh Videsh- a prime time Bengali travel show, Sahadat, a pioneering TV series on ethnic Kashmiris martyrs of the Indian Army, and Ekalavyya, an unique talent hunt for children from the maoist affected regions of India. Besides a slew of other shows for other regional channels, Raa’ also produces documentaries and corporate films. Rajarshi also works with organizations, in creating brand properties and concepts. Spero Media Concepts is a 'Content Management' company specializing in content planning, development and execution for various media, like print, television and web. Today, Spero produces a host of e-zines, brochures, newsletters, fliers, magazines, reports, films and product/brand feature books for a number of its clients. Spero’s clients include Tata Steel, RPG Enterprises, Raychem, Citibank, IDBI, Airtel, Bayer, National Building and Construction Company, BPL Mobile, Videocon, Deutche Bank, Zee News, Sahara, Bharti Tele, Mahindra Club Holidays, ICICI, DNA, HDFC Bank, UTI Mutual Fund etc. Spero has a team of experienced copywriters, editors and designers who carry out deliverables for its clients each day. Spero has also helped in creating brand awareness for some Indian companies like in their run up to successful IPOs. Spero specializes in content audit, content management and brand perceptions. Rajarshi was well recognized for his incisive reporting on several industry sectors with a special focus on M&A activity across various key organizations such as the Tata Group, Reliance, Unilever, Godrej, Birla etc. He was also known for his first views on emerging trends across subjects such as brands, CSR, Business Management, HR, restructuring among various other contextually topical issues for India Inc. He started his 15‐year career as a cartoonist for several Northeastern local and regional dailies. He subsequently worked as a producer with AIR for a period of three years. His career in business journalism spanning over a decade had him make his mark across India’s key media titles across various media namely Financial Express, Business Standard, NDTV/ Star News besides his stint with the Times of India. He has to his credit the setting up of NDTV/Star News, Mumbai Business Bureau. Rajarshi is a postgraduate in Physics, and followed it up with a Masters’ degree in Mass Communications and media management Calcutta University.
